David Larkins Lecture June 27th at the AIE, "The Inspiration and Story Behind the Paintings"
July 28, 2014
Created to Create, Artist Spotlight Kristin Rose
May 24, 2019
When I first started thinking about this show I knew I wanted Kristin to be a part of it.
I have been a fan of Kristin's art for many years! Going back to the Two Sisters Gallery on Front St in our Downtown.
Kristin's work is so unique, and exciting! She actually makes the people she uses in her work and also many times builds cut wood images to match up with them.
For this piece she found an antique frame that she used as her base for the work, then she sculpted this wonderful piece of art in and through it.
Kristin is a Monroe area lady, who graduated from The College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
Kristin is also a lady of Christian Faith, and it currently teaching at Holy Ghost school. Her and I have had discussions over the years about our balance between faith and art. We know that God gave us the ability and desire to create and honor Him through our work, but we also walk that line between living as He created us and vanity in a profession that holds superficial qualities in high esteem.
Kristin is a woman with deep message in her work, you may not always know what the deep meaning is until after you have studied it for a bit. But take a moment and study this piece, think about how she sculpted this beautiful lady, then added every piece of embellishment for a reason.
I invite you to post what you think different pieces in this piece of art are representing. Then come in and see it in person!!!
The show hangs through June! And our opening reception is June 1st 6-9pm!!
